Well at least the Bears Lost

Not only am I losing interest in this blog, I’m really getting tired of lackluster performances by the Packers. This week you could see it during the whole game. Sitting at 0-7, Tampa had nothing to lose! And with the retiring of Leroy Selmon’s number and playing in their old uniforms, Tampa had a some extra energy. The more talented Packer team refused to put them away….In the 2nd Quarter, leading by 7 they had three possessions inside Tampa territory yet came away with nothing. They started the game with a bang on a 74 yard TD pass to James Jones then didn’t go back to that matchup until the end of the game!? The entire game there were gaping holes for Ryan Grant but he only ended with 20 carries!?

And again, their special teams suck ass. This was supposed to be a much improved unit after switching to the 3-4. (Cuz it brings it more versatile players, Yaaa)

Here are the couple plays that killed me…

  1. After a quick TD on their first possesion, Rodgers tries to do it again except this time is picked. If they instead grind out a longer drive here and come away with just a FG this game could be over. (IE 10-0 pack)
  2. Early 4th Quarter, Rodgers runs it in 12 yards for what I thought was the game clinching TD. Score is 28-17 with 12 minutes left. That quickly changes after giving up a 84 yard kickoff return and Tampa answers with a TD. Bah!
  3. Later 4th Quarter, Packers are up 28-23 with about ten minutes left. After running successfully for about 30 yards, the Packers are faced with a 3rd and 5 from their 48. A team confident in their running game could really surprise the opposing D by running here…instead they call some goofy pass where Rodgers gets under pressure and pass falls incomplete to Havnar. (Was this just a coincidence that the play before Ahman Green became the Packers all time leading rusher?)
  4. Later later 4th Quarter, Bucs driving still down by 4. Short pass to the TE Winslow gets picked off by AJ Hawk. I thought, man Hawk is going to be name player of the game for the first time in god knows when….then barely in view I catch the yellow flag flying in. Illegal contact penatly on Hawk gives the Bucs new life, with they rapidly cash in.

Week 9 Winners:

  1. Ryan Grant – He actually impressed this game, too bad he didn’t get more touches.
  2. Jim Bates – Revenge game! Hahaha. I wonder who TT will pick as his next coach with no worrying about catering to Favre.
  3. James Jones – Looks good when he actually gets thrown do…still don’t get why the Packers coaches aren’t taking advantage of this matchup. Seems like he could beat almost any teams 3rd Corner.
  4. Josh Freeman – Rookie QB wins his first start in impressive fashion, the longer they were in this game the further he believed he could win this game..

Will this be the last time he limps off the field?

Week 9 Losers:

  1. Mike McCarthy – Don’t have to say much here
  2. Aaron Rodgers – Not sure how much his injuries slowed him but he seemed to be playing cocky to me early…Like zero respect for Tampa D. And it bit him hard!
  3. Tauscher – Done, too bad their O-line looked ok with him and Clifton in the mix.
  4. Colledge – Just isn’t living up to his 2nd round draft pick
  5. Ted Thompson – Man shit will really hit him hard if this team doesn’t finish 9-7 or better. And please find better Oline this offseason!

Wednesday Wrap Up

Wednesday Wrap Up

Glory days are here again...?

So the Packers have now signed two ex-packers within the past two weeks. First it was Tauscher, today it’s Ahman Green. Well its now blatantly obvious that Ted thinks his job might be on the line this year. Both of these players are well past their primes! Ahman Green hasn’t been scary fast since like 2004? Tauscher is probably the only one with any chance of impacting the team but man…

Packers 26 Lions 0

This is the first Packer game I didn’t watch a second of this year and I’m sorta glad I missed it. Sounded like a good effort by the Packers D against a horribly depleted Lions O. But man, another week for Rodgers with taking 3 plus sacks..there were five this week against one of the worst teams in the league. How long before gets seriously injured? The Packers are now 1 for 1…they MUST win there next three.

Vikings 33 Ravens 31

The Ravens almost completed a ferocious comeback but were turned away by a last second FG miss. The Vikings O looked solid in the first half…this game should have been a rout. Favre and AP are a well oiled machine right now…neither can do wrong. The injury to Antone Winfield could really open up the NFC North. Watch out Viking fans, the injury bug is waaay over due in Minneapolis.

Falcons 28 Bears 21

This was a pretty good game between two potential playoff teams. The Falcons have now won two straight against solid competition. Meanwhile the Bears injuries are starting to add up on the D. And they have yet to get their ground game going.

Week Six Winners

  • Adrian Peterson – Flashbacks to Payton are hard to resist
  • Aaron Rodgers – Survived another week, although he showed up on the injury report for the first time this week. (foot)
  • Clay Matthews – 2 sacks and on tackle for loss, goodbye Poppinga

Week Six Losers

  • Frank Walker – The ex-packer CB gave plenty of opportunities to old man Favre
  • AJ Hawk – Hello? Katzenmoyer called he wants his career back.
  • Chili – Bad decision not to go for the TD before kicking that FG.
  • Chad Clifton – Argh, just ugly
  • Orlando Pace – The whole game the announcers were praising him then he costs them dearly in the end
